Videography

Initial Impulse Productions has over seven years of experience producing high-quality digital Wedding and Event Videography.  Our experience ensures that we will be able to capture all the important details, and our equipment ensures that production values will be high even in the difficult lighting and sound environments that many events are set in.

Equipment And Quality

Most consumer video cameras have small lenses and use a single, tiny CCD (charge-coupled device), which is the "chip" that converts the light energy into digital information.  As a result, the picture is often too dark, grainy or out-of-focus around the outside edges, and has poor color reproduction.  Our cameras use large lenses and 3 large CCDs, which capture more light and dedicate one CCD to each of the three primary colors, resulting in a picture that is brighter, sharper, has more contrast, and far better color reproduction.  This is even more important in a wedding, as the use of bright video lighting is rarely possible or desirable, and the camera must be depended on to make up the difference.

Another very important difference between having a friend or relative videotape your event and having it done professionally is post-production editing.  Editing allows multiple angles and a constant change of scene, which helps keep the interest of the viewer.  A single static shot may document your event, but it won't be very engaging to watch.  40+ years of television broadcasting has given viewers an expectation of motion and flow, and this comes from multiple camera angles and good editing techniques.  We use an all-digital editing system that maintains the video quality of the original tape while allowing us to insert graphics, cut scenes, still photography, and so forth.

Sound is often overlooked when shopping for videography, but without good audio, the "experience" of a video production is severely compromised.  We use professional-grade microphones and wireless systems that capture excellent quality sound.  In some circumstances, we may also tie into the "house" audio system as well, giving even better coverage and more tracks of audio to choose from when editing.  You will be able to hear the difference!

Finally, we deliver the finished product to you on DVD.  DVDs give you the best sound and image quality possible, and because they are fully digital, they will not degrade with use or storage like VHS tapes do.  They are also much more convenient, with the ability to add menus, photo galleries, and other effects not possible or practical with VHS.  However, we can, for an additional fee, provide high-quality VHS or S-VHS copies for those clients who require VHS format.

Preperation

We will pre-consult with you to go over any important aspects of your event so that we can get the shots that are important to you.  Weddings often have a special ceremony, scripture reading, or other event that requires a specific camera angle or audio setup, and without this preparation, many of these shots will be lost.

Our camera teams come with extra equipment, so that an unforeseen equipment failure or last-minute change to the program can almost always be accommodated.  In fact, there have been many instances where we have "bailed out" a photographer, band, house PA operator, or DJ by having backup equipment to loan.  While this isn't a practice we encourage, we do believe in being prepared for the worst, so that we can deliver our best.
